Students are currently working a landscape based on a photograph using acrylic paints. The various scenes depicted may include forests in the seasons, beaches, cliffs, lakes, parks, fields, etc.
For this painting, students will stretch their own canvas using shop tools as they study Abstractionism as an Art movement. Pieces may range from the geometric to the expressive. Inspiration may come from such artists as Picasso, Mondrian, Kandinsky, Miro, Stella and others.
Research Project: Students will write a paper about their own abstract painting as they compare it to those of famous painters whose work is similar in certain ways to theirs.
If time allows, students may create a painting depicting flowers in nature or in an arrangement.
COURSE WILL BE OFFERED AGAIN IN SEPTEMBER 2018
