SUMMER READING LIST 2020-2021

You are required to read the works listed under your section.  You will be tested on these works during the first two weeks of school in September.  You are required to pass this test in order to pass the first marking period in English.

These books are popular titles and available in paperback.  Students may obtain them in three ways:

a. borrow them from the public library
b. purchase them from bookstores
c. purchase or borrow them from upperclassmen

Your letter of acceptance and/or certificate indicated whether you were enrolled in the college preparatory program or honors program.

Reading Journal – read both books and respond to three of the following:

1.     Pretend you are Scout or Francie. Write a series of diary entries in the voice of that character (minimum of 10 entries).
2.     Write an imaginary dialogue between the main characters of the two books. What would they say to one another? (at least one page)
3.     Which character did you like the best from each novel? Why? (at least one page)
4.     If you could spend a day in the fictional world of one of these books, which book would you choose? Why? What would you do?

Your journal will be due the first week of classes.
