Seton Summer Academy – July 17th-21st

Seton Summer Academy – Designed for girls in 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade, will be running from July 17th-July 21st.

 

Half Day (sessions A & B or C &D) – 8:45am-11:45am or 12:15pm-3:15pm

Full Day (sessions A, B, C & D) – 8:45am-3:15pm (Lunch break with own bagged lunch from 11:45am-12:15pm)

 

Cost to Participate:

$275 for half day

$375 for full day

 

SESSION A  (8:45am-10:15am):

Creative Writing: Writing is like a Window to the SOUL.” Let your CREATIVITY flow as you plan, compose, revise and polish several creative writing pieces such as stories, poems and personal essays. Let your inner creative spirit shine in this class!

Culinary Academy: Spend your week in our kitchen creating and eating some delicious dishes. Students will prepare different recipes each day, as they learn their way around the kitchen.

Musical Theater Workshop:  Whether you sing, dance and/or act, Musical Theater Workshop is the perfect place to hone your skills on the stage. Participate in improvisation and vocal exercises. Learn some of the history of Musical Theater and get a hands on view of a professional audition process. There will also be a chance to work on scenes and songs.  The week will culminate in a short performance for friends and family.

It’s All About Art: Let your creativity flow!  Join us for a five day experience filled with projects using an array of materials including water colors, India ink, pastels, pencil, clay and mixed-media.  Paint outdoors, (weather permitting), draw from life, create collages and sculpt as you discover exciting new techniques. The life and works of famous artists will also be discussed.          

Math Investigations: What do pineapples, pianos, and paintings have in common? We will learn the surprising answer and uncover more patterns that are hidden all around us.

SESSION B (10:15am-11:45am):

Fashion Lab:  Students will enjoy the basics of sewing and the proper use of the sewing machines. You will love your final product – it’s something you can wear! No prior sewing experience necessary.

Math Investigations: What do pineapples, pianos, and paintings have in common? We will learn the surprising answer and uncover more patterns that are hidden all around us.

SESSION C (12:15pm-1:45pm):

Fashion Lab:  Students will enjoy the basics of sewing and the proper use of the sewing machines. You will love your final product – it’s something you can wear! No prior sewing experience necessary.

Project NJ History: Research significant and little known people in New Jersey’s history.  Students will use a digital archive to conduct research, then prepare and film a small scene detailing their person’s impact, which we will edit into a larger “documentary.”  Students will learn about New Jersey’s storied and diverse history through primary  and secondary sources and learn the skills involved in making and editing movies. Parents are invited to see the documentary on Friday.

SESSION D (1:45pm-3:15pm):

Fashion Lab:  Students will enjoy the basics of sewing and the proper use of the sewing machines. You will love your final product – it’s something you can wear! No prior sewing experience necessary.

Tech Lab: Enhance your classroom experiences with this exciting technology class. Work hands-on with Google Classroom products, One Note, Prezi and many other learning apps. You will be prepared for high school technology when you are done!  BYOT (Bring  your own technology if you have it.)
